Will a Can of Poppy Seeds for Baking Be Able to Grow if Planted?

im a gardener always trying to add new breeds to my garden and i have many poppy breeds but i cannot get any breeds of the papaver somniferum species because of their use in making drugs. so i did Research and found out that papaver somniferum is the only kind of poppy seed used in baking. so i got the idea to buy a bag of seeds from a bakery and than plant them instead of eat them. the only problem im thinking of, of why they wouldn’t grow is because their roasted or something. hey if it doesn’t work at least ill have something to top my bagels with (:

they just popped up from seeds about 2-3 days ago. this morning the little guy was growing strong, but i came back from the store and he was just flopped over. i have it under a grow light and in a pot.
thanks man, im gonna plant em outside once i get it to be a nice size. its in a biodegradable pot so im all good. you have best answer
